New trends.Rose Prosecco -Is it possible?
Yes, it is. We are going to see a new trend in the sparkling wines soon. By the way, this rose is existing Fashion Victim Astoria Rose.
Can we buy Rose Prosecco now?
The Rose Prosecco is going to applier on the label of Astoria 2021. Astoria sells wines produced at its own “Val De Brun Estate” in Refrontolo, in the heart of the DOCG zone Conegliano – Valdobbiadene. Forty acres in Italy, renowned for its climate, highlight the harmonious succession of hills and vineyards. With the new 2009 regulations Prosecco has become the “Territory” instead of the name of the grape varietal. The name Glera, historic synonym of Prosecco, now identifies the grape variety. (Info Wine Grapes Jancis Robinson https://www.jancisrobinson.com/). Grape varieties in the zone Conegliano- Valdobbiadene are Glera and Pinot Noir (North Italy Pinot Nero).
What is interesting about Rose Prosecco?
It is extra dry sparkling wine blend of 85% Glera and 5% Pinot Noir. Separately fermented red grapes with a short maceration time give the wine its special color and typical timbre so sought after by makers of “classic” sparkling wines.
Wine tasting notes
Rose Prosecco- “Fashion Victim” Rose Astoria has aromas of peach, lemon grass, strawberries and white flowers. The wine is medium dry and it has full body, medium acidity, medium tannins and low alcohol. Palate has intense flavors of peach, lemon grass and strawberry. It has medium plus finish.
Food and Wine
We can easily have it as an aperitif. Wine is extra dry, which make the wine the best food pairing for Chinese and Tai food. I will pair fry Cyprus shrimps with garlic butter or even Fish meze. You can always have a nice summer salad-lettuce, avocado, pomegranate, cucumber and walnuts with dressing of fresh lemon, oregano and olive oil.
Last year after a unique Master Class of Astoria Estate, I was waiting to be announced the new regulation for Prosecco. I am really happy that soon we will have labeled Rose Prosecco.
